“Negotiations with 32BJ continue to make productive progress. There is nothing unusual about a strike vote taking place and that does not mean there will be a strike,” RAB President Howard Rothschild said in a statement. “In fact, these votes take place every year of contract, but since the Second World War, there has only been a work stoppage with the construction workers. We have the same objective as the union: to reach an agreement that fairly compensates our employees for sales while reflecting the economic realities facing the industry. As employers may know, the Employees International Union stated that it would hold a mass walk on July 20, 2020 for about eight minutes to draw attention to systemic racism and police brutality against black people. Local 32BJ is part of the Employees International Union Service and has informed us that it intends to comply with the “No Strike” provisions of the current RAB collective agreements. While Local 32BJ may involve its members in appropriate actions and protests to draw attention to these recent social justice issues, it is appropriate that 32BJ representatives should not withdraw from work on 20 July. Any worker who is absent from work against the employer`s education may be subject to appropriate discipline. If you have any questions, please contact rab.
Preliminary agreement between RAB and Local 94. 32BJ will increase from 1 January 2019 if office tenants and union cleaners fail to reach an agreement on their salaries and benefits by the end of the year, workers could strike. The interim agreement also provides for stricter measures for sexual harassment, such as the obligation for employers. B to provide and publish a policy of sexual harassment in the workplace and the protection of workers from harassment by third parties. “Our negotiating committee has worked very hard to get this new agreement strong and we are very pleased that our work was worth it,” Kyle Bragg, president of SEIU 32BJ, said in a statement. 32BJ SEIU and the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations have agreed on an annual weighted average wage increase of 2.54 percent, meaning an average office cleaner will earn $61,304 by the end of the contract in December 2023, as the parties announced Friday. Under the agreement, the average annual increase in wages and benefits will be 2.87%. At a massive rally in Midtown on Wednesday, 32BJ seiu members voted to approve a strike if they do not enter into a contract with the Realty Advisory Board, which represents commercial owners and cleaning companies, by December 31. The 2015 contract included an annual increase in wages and benefits of 3.7 percent.
However, as part of the most recent agreement, two major proposals from the Committee on the Rights of the Child were dropped. The group had tried to force employees to pay their health care costs and wanted to create a new Tier II employee, a less experienced and less well-paid worker. 32BJ leaders hinted earlier this week that both proposals could lead to a strike.
